The Pennsylvania Browncoats is a group of more than 500 Firefly/Serenity fans located in or near the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.  They organize social events as well as charitable activities, such as the annual Can’t Stop the Serenity charity screenings.

Since Pennsylvania is so large, the state is subdivided into five regions, which are called “brigades” in honor of the Independents' divisions from Firefly.  These smaller groups get together much more often than the state as a whole (though there always seem to be several statewide activities in various stages of planning and development).

The Pennsylvania Browncoats' Rivers and Bridges Brigade represents Southwestern PA, but it also draws members from Eastern Ohio and Northern West Virginia. Its name is a reference to the city of Pittsburgh's three rivers and numerous bridges, since most of its members are from the greater Pittsburgh area.
